Contextual Text Links Provide Better Search Engine Rankings
Perhaps you have heard it before but it bares repeating, in order to have quality backlinks you are going to have to have quality content as well as link from and to quality sites. What does this mean exactly? Well, it is pretty simple actually, Google judges links in two ways, contextual text links and non contextual text links. What you are looking for are contextual links because this means that links that you are providing are not only directly related to the word that you have embedded the link into but it is also directly related to the site that it links to. In other words, if you are selling widgets, then the word widget should be hyperlinked to your web page that sells widgets. Yes, this is simplistic as a link could be a whole phrase or other words still related to widgets, however, hopefully it provides you with the general idea.
The next thing that you have to consider when using contextual text links is the site that you are posting your content on. Google is looking for quality sites when they consider your ranking level, so if you are on your Aunt Annie's family website trying to create backlinks you may want to rethink your strategy. If possible you should find a site that focuses on the subject that you are writing about. Many sites allow you to post your content to their site for free and they categorize via subject matter. If the site is a possible one then this will work for you as a quality backlink.
The quality of the content that you provide is also going to determine where you rank in search engine results. Many people will write articles, blogs and news stories that are totally irrelevant to the backlink (such as an article on lipstick with a link to a widget store). When this happens it decreases the quality of the backlink as well as does not provide contextual text links. In fact, this is called out of context links, which are links that are not relevant to the content of the article. While this kind of linking will produce minimal results, contextual text links are going to serve you much better.
No matter what kind of business you run, you are going to want to get people to visit your website. A high ranking in a search engine is going to increases your chances of having a successful business and a popular website.
